Koh Phangan Airport Construction
Koh Phangan the Island of the famous full moon party and of course its natural beauty, excellent beaches will soon get its own airport, which has been in construction now for the last six months. The nearest airport is on the sister Island of Koh Samui which is owned by Bangkok Airways and run exclusively by that airline.
Kan Air which was launched in 2010 from Kannethi Co which was established in 2005 is going to be spending around 700 million baht to build the Koh Phangan airport. The airport will have a 1,100-metre runway and thatched-roof terminal like Koh Samui airport. The location of the airport is on the eastern side of Koh Phangan.
The airport is said to be ready within the second half of 2013, this will give the Island direct access by flight for the first time. Kan air also plan to make routes to the Island from Bangkok’s Don Mueang airport.
Kan Air has recently acquired its first jet, the Beechcraft Premier I which is a light aircraft. They may also lease two ATR 42 turboprops and two Embraer ERJ 145 regional jets, while it advances its stages of construction of the airport on Koh Phangan.
