Hotel Occupancy up
The Thai Hotels Association (THA) has announced that the hotel occupancy in the country of Thailand has returned to normal. The recent elections have affected the tourism industry for Thailand. The governor of the association Prakit Chinamornpong said that the average occupancy rate in hotels across Thailand during the month of May has gone up by 60%, comparing with the period of four years ago. The rates in the North of Thailand were 40% and in the South parts were almost 70%.
Although the low season occupancy was improving rates of hotels had remained low with only a few increases. The chairman of the Tourism Council of Thailand, Mr Kongkrit Hiranyakit has reported that the elections have affected hotel occupancy in the North. Many government agencies had cancelled meetings and seminars across the country which was designed to promote tourism because of the elections.
